ABCs of feelings
All of our skills and tools for building foundational emotion skills.
Kids aren’t born knowing how to handle big feelings — emotional skills are learned, just like reading or riding a bike! From noticing the flutter in their chest when they’re nervous, to putting words to what they’re feeling, to asking for help when things get hard, these foundational skills help kids understand themselves and connect with others.
Building emotional intelligence takes practice, and parents play a huge role by modeling skills like reflective listening, flexible thinking, and self-compassion. We’ve gathered Minds in Bloom resources on the ABCs of emotion — core skills that help kids (and caregivers!) navigate feelings, solve problems, and build resilience from the ground up.
